bought my daughter some studio lights, and have been having a play.
deffo need a light meter, but having googlededed it, its a bloody minefield
any advice on a good one to go for?
Make?
functions?

You can't go wrong with a Gossen or a Sekonic. Which model depends on your budget.
 
I've been using a Sekonic L558 for 3 years. Expensive, but everything you could want from a light meter.
