which lens

i have a choice of two len,s for macro photography the nikon 18-135 or a sigma 17-70 any ideas or better suggestions please budgit quite low arond 150 pounds probably off e-bay second hand:bonk:

£170 ish should get you a second hand Sigma 105mm F/2.8 Macro, much better than either of those listed, most zooms with macro are 1:2 ie 1/2 life size, the sigma 105mm is 1:1 so will produce life size images and being f/2.8 will work in lower light not to mention the better quality image a prime lens will produce

cheers wack hadnt thought of a prime doh so many mini zooms around you forget about "real" len,s yeah seems good but hav,nt found one for £170 yet will keep looking and add some more macro shots when i find one

hi wack and thanks for the imput but i eventually went for the sigma 17-70 still a cracking lens and only cost 122 beer tokens
