Yes
Okay I've had my Nikon D40 for six months or so, love it . Got the original lens 18-55 and bought the 55-200mm.

Question is, what would be my next lens to buy bearing in mind I take alot of outdoor photos and would like to get closer up to subjects alot more than my 55-200mm does. There seems alot of different lenses on the market and am now quite baffled!

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

How about something like a 10-22mm?
when you say outdoors, you mean landscapes?

Yes when I'm out and wanting to get a close up view of say a bird up a tree!!! Sorry that sounds abit basic doesn't it !! Not good with the camera technology!!!

Ah, ok, then you dont want the 10-22!! lol
To get a close rview of something, you will need a tele lens.
But on the other end of the scale, a macro, which get su real close to a subject ie a flower, a bug etc.
What is your 200 like? i imagine thats quite a big range?

You either want a macro something like the sigma 150 for getting really close up pictures of small things like snails and flowers that are reasonably close to you or you want a longer telephoto like the sigma 70-300 or canon 100-400 etc to get closer to small things that are further away from you like birds in trees.

or a 400 prime might be an option, but it all depends on what you want to spend.

Thanks everyone. Like the sound of the sigma 70-300 will go check out prices.
