I have been asked to cover ladies football matches in Scotland, many of which will be played under floodlights. I have a Nikon D7000 and a Nikon 55-300 lens, which is great for day time but I think it may struggle under floodlit conditions.

Can anyone recommend a suitable lens? Budget is around £1000ish

The fastest one you can get second hand basically!! D7000 should be ok at higher isos to be honest.

http://www.ffordes.com/product/11061715201181 There's this sigma thing. Don't know if it is stabilised though. But f4 would be a bit faster I'm assuming than your current 55-300 would be. F2.8s are usually leaps and bounds more expensive.

There's a new nikon 300mm f4 prime for just over a grand but I don't think it is stabilised either. http://www.ffordes.com/product/10072316359949

If you can drop on an f2.8 of anything then you have the option of adding a teleconverter for extra reach if it is a bit short without losing too many stops of light.

Hopefully a Nikon lens expert will be along with better ideas :)
