Hi Guys/Girls. Have a Canon 1100D and wanting to Shoot 720p video at my friends wedding. what sort of lens is the best to use?
Nick :>

It depends what type of shots your looking for. I hear that IS lenses for video are pointless, but of course they'll always help in the still photo department! The same rules apply as if you were taking stills to be honest, but unlike stills you won't be using flash obviously, so your looking for a fast lens.

A 70-200 2.8 would be a good bet, and a 50mm 1.8, or a 1.4 if your budget is good.

I dont agree with that at all. IS lenses are great for video when you are shooting hand held, they smooth out camera movements and of course help keep the image still when you are shooting a static shot. Unless you are using a tripod for all your shots IS lenses are favourable when available.

When using IS lenses then if you are recording audio and you don't have an external mic you can sometimes hear the IS mech spinning. Other than that when handheld I use IS where possible, usually I just use a fluid head tripod which removes the need.

As for lens, depends on light, range etc. I don't think you can control aperture with that body so not so good for 'arty' shallow dof shots unless the light is low.
