I have a Kodak Z740 and would like to get some lenses, macro and filters. I have a 45.5mm - 55mm lens adapter for my camera and want to use other lenses, will any 55mm lens work or does the lens have to be designed specifically for that camera?

I see lot's of lenses available on eBay that are 52mm & 55mm but they all seem to be listed as designed for one camera or another.

Thanks for any advice. I'm a complete novice and am looking for info before I make a purchase.

As far as i am aware you will only be able to buy a

1.4x telephoto lens &
0.7 x wideangle lens

You cannot change lenses with this camera.

You have a 10x optical zoom (38-380mm) .... And a 5x digital zoom.

What size do you want?

Thanks both for your replies.

Sorry if I sound like a complete novice in my first post there, but that's exactly what I am, A Novice. I assumed the filters were called Lenses, at least that's the description given to the ones I've looked at. Although I am a novice I do understand that my camera does not have the interchangeable, zoom lens and the type used by the type of cameras used by professionals, the SLR's.

I'll try again. What filter lenses, polarized, uv and macro, can I use with my camera. Is it those specific to my camera or would there be generic ones suitable. Only there seem to be plenty of lenses for 55mm fittings but not too many specific to the Kodak Z740, the ones that are cost a bit and not being that flush I am looking for cheaper alternatives.

thanks for your patience and understanding with the new boy.

There is no restriction to filters. They'll all "work". 55mm thread fit is quite common.

Back in the days of film it was common to use filters for all sorts of compensation, but digi-cams dont need it. Especially if you tweak on the 'puter.

At wide open you might get vingnetting (darkeining around the corners), but at the long end they'll be fine.

A CPL is always a good option.
Try 7dayshop, they do pretty cheap versions.

You might want to try macro filters ... cheap and cheerful to get close to things (read magnifying glass that you screw to the front).
