Ayup lads hope your well.
Just a quick one really.
With Ultimate Dubs (vw car show in Telford)coming up on sunday and me not driving for a change id like to get a load of car to car rolling shots of the convoy on the way up there.

Becasue ive always been a driver wherever we go ive not actually done this before so i was wondering what lens i should use?
I have a Canon 1100d and have the 18-55mm is kit lens a 75-300mm canon usm II and a Canon 50mm f1.2

I was thinking of using the 50mm as it is super quick and takes lovely photos but not sure if this is the best to use or whether i should use the kit lens?
The shots will mainly be car to car.

Also im expecting the weather to be pretty poop and a little dull in the morning so i was going to run a higher iso of say 400 but would i be better off in shutter priority mode and set it super quick?Or is it just a case of suck it and see on the day, playing with settings.

Thanks in advance for your help :)

"car to car rolling shots " ............ Sounds like the choice of lens will depend on how far you will be from the subject cars. Off the cuff I'd suggest something much wider than 50mm.

Easiest thing to do is a practice with a static vehicle, using different lenses (or a suitable zoom). Position yourself at the distance you expect to be shooting from then see what focal length lets the subject nicelt fill the frame.
Sounds like a zoom will be the most versatile - 24 to 85 range or similar.

With the lenses you have, I'd say the 18-55. 50mm will be way too long on a 1.6 sensor.

As for settings, set it to about 1/80 and let the camera sort the rest at first, then as you get more comfortable, try different settings if it's not the shot you want.

I might also be doing rollers, depending on how hungover I am on the way up.

Thanks for the replies lads ive just packed my gear up ready.Unfortunately i wont be hanging on the sunday as i have a 16 hour shift to do on the saturday :(

Are you off in a dub?Im not driving for a change as my bits arnt back from the bodyshop yet so thought i would take advantage and get some nice rollers :)
Looking forward to it :)
