Which Lens Next for Birds & Wildlife??

Hi Everyone

I am thinking about getting a new lens, and as it's my birthday on Sunday I thought now would be a good time

I really enjoy taking photos of birds and at the moment the longest lens I've got is the Sigma 70-300mm.

I was thinking of the Sigma 120-400mm and can get this for around £600 - I just wondered if anyone could suggest any other lenses that would be good for birds & wildlife please.

300 f/4, they are a possibility in Canon mounts (used), but I don't know about Nikon mount).

I own the 120-400mm and you wont find it easy to handle without a monopod or a tripod. It is a monster! The Nikon range are very expensive around 400mm length so you may be better sticking to a 300mm range.

The Sigma 150-500 is about £700 and has the extra reach that you might find useful. It also has Image Stabilisation which can help when handholding.

Is it dead heavy then, I did get shown one when I bought my 70-300 but didn't try it out. Do you get good results with it though?
