Tomorrow I`m taking photos at a Christening for friends, haven`t been to the church yet but am planning on arriving early to take test shots.

I have a Nikon D100 with Nikkor 50mm1.4 AF-S lens and a 28-299 mm Sigma, just wondering which is the better to use in the church, will not be close (I think) so not to sure on the 50mm?

No flash allowed I do have a jessops 360 AFD.

Thanks

50mm is a very nice lens, the other, sorry is a bit of a jack of all trades... I would be slightly concerned about D100, it might not cut the mustard in the church in low light even with the prime.

Used to do weddings on medium format with a standard and a wide angle both primes. Will do most shots with the 50mm and use the zoom for wide shots and the odd grab shot. You need to avoid changing lenses too often or you may well get dust on the sensor. You will get the best image quality with the 50mm by a country mile.

A church may allow flash, general services they don't but some churches will allow flash for events like christenings and weddings.

Always a good idea to ask the vicar they day before just to make sure.
