I have an Epson PX730WD Photo printer, I've been using compatible ink cartidges to try save on the ink costs but have found that the colors tend to fade rather quickly as opposed to when I have used the Epson original ciara ink cartridges.

I am considering purchasing a CISS system (see my previous post here ) but I am unsure which would be the best ink to use with my printer?

Could anyone tell me which is the best choice of ink to use? Dye ink or Pigment ink?

pigment lasts longer but won't be suited to your print head so you will need to use dye

Are you sure? as I was told that my printer can use two sets of Epson cartridges out of the box, Hummingbird claria inks which is supposed to be a mixture of both dye based & pigment inks or Owl inks which are 100% pigment inks.

is this information incorrect?

owl is just a larger volume cart.

black ink is pigment, colours are dye

Do you know if the the print head for the black cartridge is different from the colour cartridges print head in order to accommodate the use of black pigment ink?

No idea - google search for people using pigment ink with a claria printer
