I have recently purchased a 580EX II and would like to play around with multiple and off camera flashes, but don't want to spend another £300+ on another flash.

What would be a good flash to get bearing in mind it will never be mounted on my Canon and must be controlled by the 580 EX II

Cheers

Yongnuo flashes off ebay....the 460II is around £40 delivered brand new. Brilliant kit for the price.

:agree: Yep the Yongnuo flashes are brilliant, shame FlashinthePan is still not selling them on here. Decent build and reliable couldnt fault mine, which I sold to Paul BTW :) Hope its still going well mate

hehe, yeah Steve! got flashes everywhere! Although I now tend to stick with A Yongnuo YN460II and a YN467  as slaves with a Nikon SB24 as the key light.

yn-462 fully manual can be dialled right down you can pick it up on the bay for under 25, another great flash

Yes, YN flashes all the way. Now I have 3 YN-460. Also had YN-560 but it's not worth the extra.
If you want more deccent one get YN-468

Lots on good recommendations, and I have a YN-560 on the way, but first we need to know what you mean by "must be controlled by the 580 EX II"

The ones mentions above can be triggered by the 580EX, but not controlled. These are manual flashes, you'll not be able to change the power/ratios with your 580 and no ETTL, for FULL control I think the cheapest way would be a 430EX .

another option is to get basically any old flash off ebay and an optical hot shoe flash trigger off ebay Ive recently bought these items came in under 15

Sorry I should have been clearer, when I said controlled I actually meant fired.

I didn't know you could do anything else.
