Yes
in the workflow options in adobe camera raw that i'm using with CS3, i get the following Space (i'm assuming this means colour mode) options?

Adobe RGB (1998)
Colormatch RGB
ProPhoto RGB
sRGB IEC61966-2.1

can someone please tell me the pro's and con's or main uses for each choice and which one i should be choosing?

and also, should i be choosing 8 bits or 16 bits per channel? and what resolution does everyone normally use?

thanks in advance for any help.

cheers

derek

Unless you're doing most, if not all, of the following:

a) Running a fully colour managed and calibrated system
b) Using 16bit images
c) Outputting to a device that can handle larger colour spaces such as a professional printing press, magazines, etc.

then don't bother with anything except sRGB.

The other spaces provide more colours but you'll have no way of seeing them and the appearance of your shots could suffer as your images are being displayed in 8bit (screen or printer driver) so you'll get banding in subtle gradients.

I seem to remember we had an argument about this well over a year ago pxl8

And you were right then too

If you have to ask, use sRGB ;)

What pxl8 said above :)
