Which car check site?

I'm looking to buy an 18 month old car from a main dealer but would like to have a HPI / full history report.

The car was on private plates - is there a way to find what those plates were so that I can check its dealer history?

why not ask the dealer what the plates are? I would expect from a main dealer they would be more then happy to supply that & the cars history too
