Yes
Ok, so admittedly, I haven't done much research and ordered a Canon M50 mkii because the smaller size appealed to me and I felt I needed to update my camera from a Canon Eos 400D I've had from around 2008(?). I hadn't realised the lens mount was different (I've only an efs 18-55 and an ef 50mm)
However, the shop doesn'y have the M50 in stock. I'm over £600 in at present.
I feel I've a few choices and would like other's opinions.
1: Await the M50 mkii with it's kit lens being in stock.
2 EOS 250D with kit lens
3 Second hand Eos 6D body only
4 EOS R10 with kit lens second hand
Obviously I'd keps the previous camera around 15 years, so I'm hoping the next choice will last me a while.
I'd amassed a lot of old Tamron adaptall SP lenses I could use with an adaptor with my 400D, but, if I'm not mistaken, Canon appears to making things difficult with switching lens made by different manufacturers. It's all a bit overwhelming to be honest.

The Canon M range is effectively a dead duck as they are no longer developing lenses and accessories for it.
All future effort from Canon will be in their R range of mirrorless cameras using the RF lens mount.
However, this doesn't mean its a bad camera, its just an avenue that didn't work for Canon commercially, so they pulled the plug on it. If you're planning on keeping the camera a long time, its still something to consider.

There is a huge back catalogue of EF and EF-S lenses which can be used on an M or R series camera with an adaptor.

The 250D is comparatively recent DSLR from 2019 onwards. You could use your existing lenses and any EF or EF-S lenses on it.

The 6D is a full frame camera and won't accept your EFS 18-55. It would accept the EF 50mm. Its a 10 year old camera.

If the 400D suited your needs and your needs haven't really changed, I'd go for either the 250D or the R10. With an adaptor you could use your current lenses, although the current RF kit lens is probably better than the 400D kit lens.

If you want to go the M route then forget the M50 and look for a M6 MKII with viewfinder secondhand. Far more versatile and specced camera.
