Hi folks

Just hoping to get some advice regarding which digital SLR to pick. Its been around 7-8 years since i last used an slr camera but am keen on investing in a digital slr. Im very much an amateur at photography so am definately not looking for anything terribly cutting edge but that said I would ideally like something which is relatively up to date. I guess my budget is around £300-400. I was previously looking at the cannon EOS 450d which came with cashback from cannon which seemed to be ideal although not sure if the cashback deal still stands.

I guess i was wondering if anyone could reccomend any particular cameras within that price range (new or reconditioned) and has anyone had any bad experiences with the cannon, or with reconditioned cameras for that matter. The Cannon EOS 1000D also looked nice but appeared to lack manual controls. the sort of pictures ill be taking will mostly be outdoor landscapes and portraits of faces. Thanks in advance!

MJ.

First of all :welcome: to TP

There are quite a few excellent cameras available in your price range, the best advice is always to go along to a camera shop and try each one and see which feels "right" as they'll all give you really nice results.

Thanks Flash ;)

Yes i was tempted to take a browse down my local LCE to see whats on offer, since my first post i also noticed the Nikkon D60 seems to be quite reasonably priced. I guess if the picture quality from each of the cameras are similar in this price range then it comes down to what feels best and lens costs / compatibility.

Welcome, and I must agree with FITP, how comfortable the camera feels to you is one of the most important things they will all take good pictures.
