i have been wanting to get an slr camera for quite some time. i have experience with digital photography but want to take the next step with an slr. have been looking at many packages etc that are around but am sure there are more places with different deals and more advice that people can offer on here!
 
The best camera for you is the one that feels most comfortable in YOUR hands and, fits YOUR budget.

Everyone will tell you buy x or buy y, but that was their personal choice which may not fit with you.

Go and try all the different combinations in your price range.

Totally agree, go to a retail shop and try a few entry lever bodies and see how you like the feel, screen etc.
Then look for either the best new price or for a used one in the forum classifieds.
