Which Adapter for Tamron (with Adaptall 2 FD adapter) to EOS?

Hi All,

I have recently borrowed two Tamron MF lenses off my Dad:
- Tamron 103A (80-200mm)
- Tamron 02B (28mm)

They both have the Adaptall 2 adapter for Canon FD mount on them.

So I'm wondering if I just get a standard FD to EOS adapter to use with these lenses?

If so can anyone recommend a good adapter available in the UK? Ideally around £30.

I would like the possibility of getting a couple more FD lenses in future too and I'd like to be able to use the adapter on my Dads 400D and my 7D.

Thanks in advance.

For the Tamron lenses you will be better off getting an Adaptall2 - Eos adapter. Saves you trying to mount a lens by way of two adapters.

If you want to retain the ability to focus out to infinity with FD lenses, you will need an FD - Eos adapter that contains a correcting lens. The problem with this is that it introduces more glass between your lens and the sensor which will degrade the image slightly.

This is OK if you are just playing around, but if you are serious about your photography and the quality of your images, you'll be better off sticking with Eos lenses.

Thanks for the advice Scarecrow, I went for an adaptall 2 to EOS rather than the FD->EOS.

I couldn't find a original Tamron adapter so I have bought a third party one, hope it doesn't break!

Cheers

How did the adaptall - eos adapter pan out?
Which adapter did you go for and have you had any problems with it? I've seen there are some problems with infinity focusing on FD to EF adapters and wonder if you've encountered this.
Thanks
