Hi all,

The final part of my PC upgrade is to change my 23" LG monitor for a 27" monitor.
I have a budget of around £300, but if there was something FANTASTIC for £350 then I would fork out for it... but ideally looking to spend between 200-300

I have done loads of googling, reading reviews etc, comparisons between various monitors... and I have found two I like the sound of..

So I am just asking for opinions on these 2, or on any 27" recommended monitor:

Asus VE278Q: http://www.play.com/PC/PCs/4-/31644...urce=0&searchtype=allproducts&urlrefer=search
Iiyama B2776HDS: http://www.amazon.co.uk/B2776HDS-Pr...UTF8&coliid=I13SPNLYR0FQWD&colid=UDKY47VUNPVY

Both get very good reviews, with the edge going towards the Iiyama... but this is a make I have never heard of before... are they any good etc?

Thanks for any help :)

None of those...
If you want 27" get one with 2500x1440...

Are you planning on using your monitor for photo editing? If you are, you'll need to get one with an IPS panel, which, at 27", is a bit out of your price range. Have a look at the 24" Dell U2410. A very good screen for the money.

Yes, the monitor will be used for all my photo editing, very occasional game playing and lots of internet browsing.
I've looked at IPS panels on the internet and the question that sprung to mind was, are they really that much better? I sit pretty square on to my monitor, so viewing angles arent of any significance. Colour representation I guess is important, but I have been doing OK so far on a cheapish 23" non-calibrated LG monitor.

Open to any suggestions :)

I would consider Hazro

Had one but was too reflective for myself .
I do liked colours produced by it, and it came calibrated as well.

They are good screens but you have to be careful as they had problems with quality control.
So if you decide to go with it, have a look if there are no dead pixels or dust behind panel.
of course not all their screens have to issues!! just have to be careful, and can always send it back :)

I think for the money, you wont get better screen,

Mentioned Dell is better and bit more pricey, so up to you :)

Personally I'd save up some more cash and buy a decent monitor. The resolution of the two posted isn't great (I don't like 1080 screens, they don't look right to me) the Dell 2410 is a 1920x1200, it's not too far out of your price range. The Dell 2711 is about £600 but it's worth it if your going to be sitting at the pc for hours.

Another plus point for the Dells. The warranty, any dead pixels and they will replace the screen, no sending back first either. And they last, my 24" has been going strong for almost 6 years. One of my better investments :)

Hoping to replace the 24 at some point this year for the 27. But had a look at the 3011 at The Gadget Show, just have to sell a kidney :)

Lukas,
That monitor looks fantastic! Never even heard of Hazro, but the reviews speak for themselves!
Any others I should know about...

The price is OK if the monitor is worth it... if it future proofs myself so I dont want/need a better one in 2yrs time then I can justify it :)

Cheers

I think Hazro is worth it.

Colours on LED screen are fantastic :)

if only screen was not that reflective I would keep mine.
