Sent my D70 battery off to Nikon as part of the product recall earlier this week, it's no photography for me this weekend!

I hope I get it back before Christmas! :hissyfit:

..I almost went a bit crazy and ordered a Hahnel Battery Grip a few days ago, then thought I wanted to use the camera to take photos not as an alternative to a dumb-bell! :confused:

Are the third party batteries any good, not sure how much the Nikon ones cost... would always be good to have a spare.

It charges on the standard charger ok.

I bought it from ebay, It doenst have a make on it. Just put en-el3 into ebay and see what comes up. I think they were 2 for £16 + postage from the USA.

Might as well just upgrade now & sell D70 when battery is back ;)

lol ssshhh dont give me ideas. Well at least I can't get the D200 as it isn't available yet!

..I've always been a bit of an E-Bay-phobic, never been too sure about it.

Just ordered a Hahnel battery from Warehouse Express for 30 quid.

I ordered the 'like' Canon Anglefinder C from Ebay last Thursday.
I'm a little scared of Ebay like you and used a power seller.
He's got the payment...I've heard diddly squat since. No notification of despatch and hasn't answered an ebay message I sent him...oh dear :doh:

I'll hold on to that for now in case he comes up with the goods.

You can be sure I'll post a link if he doesent though.

He has accepted payment and has 99.5% positive feedback but when I went looking through the negatives a couple of people paid and never received the goods.

OK...sh!t happens but he should have answered my message.

What worries me is that after I completed the transaction I went to a page that stated he deals with 'Verified' paypal users only...no exceptions.

Mine was still un-verified.
 
I had some items held up from HK until my account was Verified.

Can understand the worry that you haven't had no email from the seller though.
 
Sometimes sellers who sell a lot, i.e. 100's of items a week are bad at answering mails because they get so many. No excuse but is he a busy seller?

I'm pleased to report I finally got a response from him via Ebay messaging and the item has been despatched :clap:
 
..well I ended up getting a Hahnel equivalent from Warehouse, it's working fine... also got the e-mail from Nikon saying my replacement had been dispatched, a higher performance model apparently.
 
That's good news on both counts David. It will make you all preparred for the cold spell battery wise.
 
He's a chinaman! I think you'll be fine with him though, the couple of negs he's had are far outweighed by the positives.
 
I think with that much feedback, and that many transactions, there are bound to be a few negatives, and looking at his feedback, the ratio of positive to negative seems perfectly acceptable to me.
If Im buying from someone like that I'll just read through a few of his recent negs, make sure he's not on a slippery slope to run away with cash. Apart from that, that many negs to that many positives is acceptable to me.....
Not least because I know how fussy and stupid some ebay people are, (and quick to leave a neg for the silliest of reasons)
 
i too sent my nikon battery off for replacement, took a week to get the envelope and i sent it off a week ago,
i just got an email today saying that it has all been sorted and they are sending me the newer higher capacity battery for my old one and apologise for any inconvienience , and expected delivery time will be 5-10 working days depending on country ,

i was lucky tho, i bought 3 batteries for my D70 a few weeks after i had it, so have not been without power so far, and of course there is always the battery adapter that came with the D70 that takes ordinary batts

Update....


my new replacement battery turned up today:)

bit shocked to find its Grey in colour:shock: , not black like the original, and its also a higher capacity than the original :D

so not a bad service:clap: ,


took about 3 weeks in total for me

My Flash Diffuser from Roxsen in Hong Kong arrived in 4 days and shock horror, the postie didn't take it back to the collection depot!
