Hi All,

Sorry if this post is in the wrong part of the forum.
I've seen footage on youtue and sky doc's of the starling roosts in the UK, there massive size and the way they seem to move as one amazes me and i'd love to see it.

Does anyone know when the best time to see them is, and where abouts would be be, i'm living in london but don't have a issue in travelling a few hrs to see it.

Cheers

Hiya,

This time of year is good - there's one up by Slimbridge and there's one down by the RSPB reserve on the Somerset levels that's meant to be good too :)

the biggest seems to be Slimbridge as Matt says above. I think it was that one they put the music too for the advert

The Starlings in the advert were filmed at Slimbridge Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust in Gloustershire. Roosts can be up to 2 million strong. Other places to see Starlings roost is at the Westhay roost on the Somerset Levels as well the West Pier in Brighton.

Look for large areas of water with reeed beds, such as Wild Life trust and RSPB reserves, don't be put off by late photographing, they seem to come in when its almost dark.

good luck, i am to return to local areas this yr...
