Yes
Sadly it has become time to part with my Nikon gear, most of it bought on here, the question is what would be the best way of parting with it, as individual items on here, or sell the lot to MPB, WEX, GRAYS, JESSOPS, or similar. There isn't that much, NIKON D7100 in mint condition boxed and very low shutter count, { I could find out obviously) 18-200 mark 2 Nikon lens, Nissin Flash unit and various accessories. I'm not going into much detail as if I was trying to sell in here, although I obviously would if that what was suggested, I'm just looking for opinions on the best way to part with the equipment. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

It's quick and easy enough to get a quote from the likes of MPB or Wex for the Nikon bits, so I'd probably start there. For the accessories personally I'd give the classified ads on TP a try

You would probably get more selling privately but you may have the deal with scams, hassle etc. I tend to use the dealers you mention but I suggest you get more than one quote as their offers do vary.

Latest experience I had with MPB was getting a quote of £140 for something that I sold privately for £400.
Private sales through TP or eBay have worked best for me.

Mail to MPB for their offer as a job lot which they will asset strip in their own time - & so have done with it in one easy swoop and move on with life - or put on ebay if you are compos mentis enough to do all the intricate ground work, in which case Id likely separate ...

As above, just get a no obligation quote from the stores you have mentioned. you will be surprised what they offer, mainly peanuts believe me.

I recall not getting much for my D7100 when I sold it because I'd got the D500. Excellent camera the D7100 was it is 12-13 years old? But way ahead of the D7000. At the time it was supposed to be the top of the range Nikon DSLR as it looked like Nikon, for a while, lost interest in the D*00 APS-c line, thus replacing the D300. Then came the D500.

I'd check the likes of Park, Wex and MPB. I've got my fingers burned by Grays, their trade-in offer for my old D3 was less than half of what I received for it by MPB. Any local camera stores, possibility of a commission sale.

All of my Nikon gear I took to Parks. Retailers have to think of profit margins so you may not get the best price. However your nikon gear has gone in one hit. For me it was not so much of getting rid of nikon cameras and lenses it was the sentimental side that upset me more. Do I regret doing it ? at the time yes but also looking forward to newer Pansonic M43 camera and lenses. Now I am more than glad I did . The question is are you getting something else better/newer or giving up taking photos?

I'm afraid it's getting difficult to lug my gear around, and I've taken more pictures with my phone, that I can upload to get free prints which I've used since my printer gave up the ghost . Not very satisfactory but as I mainly take photos of the grandkids it does suffice.

However, thanks for all the replies and I'll still enjoy being on here.

Facebook market place, BUT cash on collection or direct bank transfer ONLY , NO EXCEPTIONS , That eliminates the scammers.

I got decent price for all my gear from Park when I upgraded to mirrorless BUT I would avoid WEX for the simple reason that my brother got a quote for all his gear, Boxed it all up & it was collected - They downgraded everything even though the D500 only had 5000 actuations, So he requested all the gear back - WHEN IT CAME BACK IT HAD NOT EVEN BEEN OPENED, SO WEX WERE JUST TRYING IT ON HOPING MY BROTHER WOULD ACCEPT A CHEAP PRICE. Jokers

You could consider Ffordes who will do buy, trade and sell on a commission basis..They prefer the latter and you have to wait for your cash as they offer people time to try it. I made 3 x as much as I was offered for some stuff I was no longer using. On another occasion, when I sent more stuff - we were moving house- I rang and asked if they would move it from commission to buying it, they told me it was out in approval. That was remarkably honest of them, I thought. You do have to pay for carriage up there - I think this is to stop people sending junk - but it has worked for me.

The process starts with your ringing to discuss the items.

Shop around, it’s amazing how much price can vary from shop to shop, online quotes are quick and free. In the past I’ve used:-

MPB
Wex
Harrison Cameras
Park Cameras
Camera Jungle
Camera World
London Camera Exchange.

I’ve used WEX and always been happy with their service. Once they even gave me more than the quote as the camera was in better condition than they thought it would be.
