Morning all ive decided its time to start looking at getting a new PC in the near future, as this ones about to pop.

So this is my thing. I don't want an Apple, although I love Apple products and have an iPhone and iPad I want to stick with a good old Windows based machine. So ....

Do I buy from somewhere like PC Specialist or Do I build one at home? (At home I mean built by a friend who knows his stuff)

For roughly the same spec PC home made how much will I save over PC Specialist?
I'm slightly more drawn to PC Specialist as its a big company and the warranty is (I Think) very good value.

Thanks for any advice

Parts from ebuyer and get your pal to build it.

No idea the extent of the saving though.

Ben,

You need to spec a pc out to see what you need, once you know what parts you need you can work out the cost of either building it or buying it build.

You can use this site to find the cheapest places to buy your parts and work out the total price for comparison with PC Specialist;

http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/

When I bought my computer the PC Specialist price was about £60-70 more than building it yourself.

If you go for a self build then I'd agree with Mike about Ebuyer. I have also bought parts from Aria and Novatech - also good service and never a problem.
