I'm looking for a 77mm Polariser for my 17-40 but am not paying £60 for one! Where would be best to buy? Are any of the ebay places any good?

Thanks

£25.99 for a 77mm Hoya circular polarizer at onestop-digital.com, Matt

I just bought a 62mm one from them + well pleased. They are Hong Kong based, but use express delivery, mine arrived in 2 days I think. No duty to pay, free p&p. What more could you ask for :)

Kewl! You're welcome Glen

C'mon then Matt, you ordered yet? Or too spoilt for choice? :D

General Tip re: Hoya Filters :
The filters are very thin - useful in some respects (e.g. to avoid vignetting), but means it's very shallow at the receiving end, i.e. where you would put the next filter. The last filter in the stack (UV in my case, as I put the polarizer on 1st, per advice I read somewhere) takes the end cap - and here's my point - you have to be very careful clipping the end cap on (a Nikon one in my case) so's not to scratch the filter ... like it looks like I've done to mine :(

filterfantastic-couk on ebay.

just recieved a haya 77mm cir pol today. £28 delivered next day from the UK

Dont forget that their are cheap (thick) Hoya filters and then the more expensive ones the "super HMC pro 1" series which are very thin and allow more light through than the cheaper ones.

And in Hoya polarisers there are about 4 diffrent versions. for a 17-40 i would recommend the very thin CP else vignetting will be bad.

It's on a crop body though, so i doubt the vignetting would be anything to worry about at all :)

"For products priced £250.00 or above, an internationally renowned courier service, FedEx, will be used and their tracking system can be found at FedEx. It usually takes 2 working days to arrive to most destinations.

Products priced at £249.99 or below will be shipped via Registered Airmail operated by Hong Kong Post. It normally takes 5-8 working days to arrive to most countries. Packages can be tracked"

You don't happen to know who Onestop use for deliveries do you?

LOL I'd just been to their website + copied the relevant bit re: shipping, + then saw that hypnotic had already posted exactly the same info for you :)

Because I bought a lens from them at the same time (thus the order was over £250) I got mine by FedEx, so I can't say what the airmail delivery is like. Pretty good I would think  but waiting a few days should be worth saving a few quid, unless you're in a hurry, which it seems your not ;)

Re: the different types mentioned by mho01, yes these are the good, thin ones, as I did mention in my earlier post ... 'cos I've found this to be a problem when fitting the (pinch type) lens cap. Apparently Hoya do have their own end cap for their filters, but I didn't bother to get one of those :( prolly worth you thinking about tho'

I have a 77mm Hoya skylight and 2, 67mm UV which I would be happy to sell
have the lens hoods as well.

Kerso, as per my previous post! 77mm UV filter arrived following day...!

i used ebay, but your taking a gamble on variable quality of duff goods, but much much cheaper
