Good Afternoon,

I'm not sure if this type of thread is allowed but I'm looking for advice on where to sell one of my lenses. It's a Canon 24-70L mkii with barely any usage on it. I just don't use the thing having bought it a few years ago. Does anyone know what it would be worth as a used piece?

I've had a look on ebay but the prices seem to be all over the place and to be honest I don't want to be losing 10% sale fee plus paypal commission on something of it's value. At the same time I don't want to sell it to somewhere like LCE because I'll lose even more.

I don't seem to meet the requirements on here to enter the classifieds section either.

Is there a good place to advertise lenses? Maybe a facebook group etc?

Any help appreciated.

Alex

Have you looked at MPB? We recently sold a Canon compact to them for a very good price. Others here have used WEX. Unless you sell it privately, there is going to be some loss because any company reselling will have to offer some sort of guarantee, they have staff, premises, rent etc. I haven't checked recently how long you would have to wait to sell it here; I have acquired two cracking lenses from members of this forum. So, if you can't wait, have a look at one of these suggestions. Others may come in with alternative suggestions.

Thank you - I didn't even know about MPB - seems they might be just what I am looking for! I'll look into WEX as well. Not sure what the requirements are for posting in the Classifieds here.

Thank you. Is there a post count requirement for becoming an established member? I couldn't see it on that link. Sorry

How long have you been on TP?

To be honest even factoring in fees and postage you will still get more for your gear on e.bay than anywhere else .. don’t look at what others are attempting to sell for ,look at completed listings and start yours off below a average figure

Only 2 posts to go :)

though as it's taken over 7 years to make the last 23 posts... should be good to go by june 2020... ;)

only kiddng BTW, but if the op @Alz_D does make a couple of quick posts, it WILL kick over for access automatically, BUT, it can take a few hours before the background update process kicks in, so don't go hitting contact us immediately after making that second post please :)

Thanks for all the reply and lol at July 2020. I used to play the photoshop fun threads a bit but haven't been on here for ages. Says a lot about camera use.... I'm going to keep the 5d MKiii and the 70-200 is ii as well and the 1.4 50mm I've got. Covers most of what I shoot.

Also Ebay seem to be doing a "pay no selling fees" deal nearly every few weeks at the moment (although me posting that here has undoubtedly put the kiss of death on it now)

I actually had one of these offers not long ago but wobbled over listing it.

I had a Sigma lens advertised on a forum a few weeks ago and went down to £300 delivered then I got one of these Ebay offers and listed it on there with the global postage option to take advantage of the cheap £ vs Euro.

I cleared £420 after Paypal fees. ;)
