Hi guys, so I'm off to Devon next week for 3 or 4 days to visit a mate that lives down there. I'll be spending the evenings with them but will be out with the camera during the day.

They live in Seaton so need some locations around this sort of area to shoot. I'm willing to travel like 20-30 miles to find somewhere. Ideally i'd like to shoot seascapes but willing to give a load of landscapes a go aswell.

Thanks for your help.

The coastline between Seaton and Lyme Regis has some good photo opportunities (and around The Cob at Lyme Regis) and the last time I was in that neck of the woods, nearby Beer (the place not the drink!!!) still had working fishing boats.
The nearby river and estuary should also give some wildlife opportunities.

One superb spot is a place called Seasons Point, overlooks the estuary of the river Yealm.

Bit of a walk from Wembury or get the ferry (by request) over from Newton Ferrers, was there one morning and a lone fishing boat took to sea at sunrise, good view over to the Mew Stone and some superb cliffs as well

I've just come back from Lyme Regis. Plenty on good shooting there and I also recommend Sidmouth which isn't far away.

FWIW, Seaton is more East Devon than South Devon, although I suppose the entire South Coast is to the south of the county.

As said above, Lyme Regis is worth a look (although, Technically, that's West Dorset). Beer and Branscombe are worth shooting (or, at least exploring) as are many of the smaller coves and beaches - worth investing in an OS map or 2 to see how to get to them- the pink ones will do unless you want the extra detail the orange ones give.

If the OP did mean South Devon, there are loads of places from Plymouth Eastwards worth an explore -again, use OS maps to help navigate. It would also be a bit of a shame to miss Mifsuds in Brixham should they be in that neck of the woods!

Where the river meets the sea at Axmouth is good.

Also Budleigh Salterton - park in car park at East end of beach and walk to where River Otter comes into the sea.

Sidmouth offers plenty but I like Jacobs Ladder (west end of beach).

Hope you enjoy.

Get the tram from Seaton to Colyton. You get to photograph 1/a tram, and 2/ a pretty good river estuary - take a long lens for the wildlife. The church at Colyton is worth a visit if you're into church architecture.

Quite a few places along the coast as already mentioned. Beer and Branscombe are nice. Also, there is the walk along the river between Ottery St Mary and Tipton St John. Chances to spot ducks, kingfishers and heron along the river.

Depending how far you're willing to travel, there is also the coast road between Bridport and Weymouth (although were in Dorset now). Abbotsbury and Burton Bradstock are very pretty villages and has some spectacular views along the way.

Whoops, forgot i made this post.

Thanks for your advice, i've already explored Beer before, but didn't have my camera with me so couldn't look at it from a photographers perspective, am looking forward to giving it another go.

Thanks for everyones suggestions, i'll start plotting away on a map!

I seem to remember, if you are on the beach between Seaton and Lyme Regis, you could be cut-off by a high tide. In some places, you may be able to climb the soft bank/cliff to the land, in other places it would be seriously difficult.

The beauty of the beach between Seaton and Lyme Regis is the solitude, not doubt because of the access. Just watch the tide times.
