watching a secondhand camera bag tonight on e/bay ,and bid on it as it was only 5 miles up the road and would have come in handy .the NEW PRICE OF THESE ones is circa £34.50 with free delivery literally hundreds of them on e/bay ,so can someone tell me why this one went for £46.00 with £7.00 p&p .i just sat here gobsmacked

I seem to remember some psychology department did a study on this. It had something to do with competitiveness. There was also an element of control involved. In an auction, the bidder feels in control of the price.

It's all very odd, and very human.

I used to buy my cars from auction, and learnt to avoid auctions around holiday time for this very reason.

I guess because that item was being sold on eBay, it has the effect of making people think they are owning a "rare hard to find" item and thus pay over the odds for it, even though there are plenty of similar items in there anyway.

Yes it's mad !
I was looking for a new bag a while ago I looked on eBay but it's wasn't worth bothering with and ended up getting a new one for a similar price as they were going on eBay secondhand

But it's not only ebay that people pay OTT prices.
Recently I lost the battery cover on my D7100, first stop was Amazon, found one for £20
It's only a small piece of plastic, so I contacted Nikon direct and the price was £6 including P&P
