Yes
Being doing a bit of studio work at college and going to get myself a light meter (Sekonic L-308s). Anyone know where i get the hot shoe connector and lead that plugs into the light / meter and then into camera via an adaptor on the hot shoe. I own a Canon EOS 400D. Any help or advice much appreciated

Maybe something here : http://SPAM/232crb
will do.

Do you want to plug the lightmeter into the camera?

Or plug the lightmeter into a studio light/flash, so when you press the "measure" button the light flashes and the subject is measured.

Different cables needed for each job if you dont have a pc sync socket on your camera. (well, same cable, but a hotshoe adapter needed for camera too.)

b****r talking at cross purposes.

To plug the light meter into a studio flash unit, you'll need a pc sync cable

To fire a studio flash from a 400D you'll need a hotshoe adaptor and a sync cable.

The flashes will probably already have a sync cable.

what are you trying to do Deano?

Well i have a Canon EOS 400D so i want a hotshoe adaptor and a sync cable. However i am looking at getting a small studio flash outfit for home use so will also need a pc sync cable. If i want a light meter reading from my EOS there may be the odd occassion when i will use it with my Canon 580ex flash unit on its own. Will i need a more specific hot shoe adaptor? On the www.SPAM site they list one universal type but Canon list quite a few types. What are the diferences?
Also regarding the pc sync lead. Would a one metre or 5 metre be better? There is not much difference in price.

Why would you want a lightmeter reading from your EOS?

If I remember rightly when I was using my Powerflash light unit it had a synch chord that did both jobs. To use the lightmeter you plug the synch lead, which is atattched to the flash unit into the lightmeter to check exposure. Then the same chord would simply taken off the meter and atattched to the camera via either a pc socket of a little cube that fits onto the cameras hotshoe. Hope this helps.

Yes that is what I meant. you would either attach camera to flash... or light meter to flash.
Cant see attaching camera to lightmeter though.
