When to pick up your gun and not the camera.

Used to be an army photographer on here. Sgt Rob Knight - username Arkady. Can still see his pics if you search.
 
I like his work. I liked some of his work in the Sky Arts TV photography contest too.
There are some great shots on his website, a good variety of subject matter, not just army stuff, although there is a fair amount.

Just as an aside, how come he is claiming copyright for the pics?
Surely they are crown copyright, as he is employed by the crown?
I know when I was employed by the NHS , any medical photographs I took were property of the NHS.
Maybe I'm wrong though, wouldn't be the first time !
 
I went to a talk a while back by another army tog and a fascinating insight it was too.

And yes, he explicitly said he had no copyright to his images taken as his role as army photographer. However if I recall he also did social photography as a WW side business.
 
wish I had known about army photographers when I was in, think it was the only top secret thing in the army ;)
