posting this as I keep seeing cameras for sale on here and on e.bay which are being sold by Individuals at a higher price than exactly the same models are being sold by dealers that include warranty’s and free delivery with there items . Surely it’s worth doing Your research beforehand it’s a buyers market at the moment no matter what you feel your goods are worth or paid in the first place .
a m.p.b quote is a good starting point and a lot of retailers use there quotes as glasses / Parker’s type guide to

People will ask what they want for their equipment.
I guess it depends on if you are in a hurry to sell or not.
Although I am with you on some of the asking prices being on the high side.

On another site I frequent there were always the same sellers that always priced their items high as 'it's what it owes me' and wouldn't negotiate, yet would comment freely on other seller's prices.....

As Tony implies, it's more of a buyer's market at the moment, especially for the non-mirrorless equipment so if it is priced high it doesn't sell. Sometimes people prefer to pay more at a dealer for the same item...

I think it is also worth remembering that if you sell a camera on ebay for £400, after ebay and paypal fees, you would receive £334.40, so surely it is worth reflecting that in the price on here?
Would result in a quicker easier sale without the potential for so many problems.

Maybe people start by asking for a higher price because so many on here make low ball offers or expect a big discount. I’ve seen things advertised for a tenner and still people ask if they’ll take £8.

The eBay argument doesn’t hold up because most people wait until there’s an 80% seller fee discount deal and they are pretty regular these days.

As for dealers, there’s another thread on here highlighting the misleading descriptions that a lot of them give.

Some dealers are very good and you can occasionally get a bargain but it’s certainly not a buyers market right now, that old chestnut is trotted out constantly on everything from consumer electronics to cars.

Everything I’ve bought on here has been as described.

But without warranty and not much chance of returning pete

It is a bit odd but it doesn't bother me, however if it happens to be something that I'm interested in then I may make them aware of it and make an offer based on what the market actually is.

Good point Steve, and after using our free sales area they could always buy us a Coffee, they are only a fiver each, (we don't mind sharing we have plenty of straws)
