Yes
I'm really looking forward to having a go with the new Kodak Portra 400 as some early reviews I've read of it say its very good with extremely fine grain. But I can't find it anywhere as it doesn't seem to have been released in the UK yet! Kodaks own UK website just says its going to be sold from October and its not listed in their online shop yet.

Anyone have any idea when its going to be released?

I heard it was December, but knowing Kodak could be next year.
Give AG a ring, Matt should know.

I also heard for the UK it was December, but when I went into a reputable camera shop in Brighton last week they hadn't even heard of the film, let alone currently stocking it. It was good in a way because they still have bucketloads of 400NC in 120 and 35mm but I would love to try out the new emulsion.

The review in Amateur Photographer was quite favourable towards the film, the reviewer commented that he had seen ISO100 print films with more grain and the film gave accurate skin tones with a large dynamic range and a nice level of saturation.
However it said that it should be out at the end of November and well thats passed now. Its out in the USA though at the moment.

It's not. Portra 400 NC and VC have been replaced with just Portra 400:

Enjoy what you've got though! :D

Thanks! You are right. It looks like I bought old 400NC.

At least my box colours are different from New Porta 400 box:

They have it listed at AG Photographic now for ordering and they say they are expecting stock somewhen in January. Pity that only 5 packs of 35mm are listed at the moment, but hopefully single rolls will be available soon.

erm I see Portra 800 is mentioned on the Kodak site....but I can't remember anyone using it or comments, pics etc

Google 'Portra 800'. There are quite a few images posted on Flickr and Redbubble listing it which don't look too bad at all.

I nearly brought a roll of Portra 800 to use over christmas but in the end I got Fuji Pro 800Z as it was almost £2 cheaper. As much as I love Portra films they could bring the price down a little bit. In fact apart from black and white, all of Kodaks films are more expensive than Fuji's, even in the general snapshot film like Ultra 400. To compete a bit better they could consider lowering their prices a bit.

...don't forget you can get for 35mm:- Kodak Ultramax 400asa 36 exp also Kodak Color plus 200 asa 24 exp (supposed to be inferior to Kodak gold tho') .....£1 each in Poundland shops.

Colour Plus???? Its **** in fact its the worst film I have ever used. I got one free with a jessops development a year or so ago and it was awful. Never again. Its in fact a very old Kodacolour emulsion from the 80's.

I recently have found that I tend to prefer Fuji Superia to Kodak Gold/Ultra as it seems to be cheaper and have a nicer colour and saturation. I do however love Kodak Portra films as their just good for general shooting with finer grain and nicer colours than Superia/Gold/Ultra despite them being designed primarily for portraiture.
