My daughter has started playing wheelchair basketball and I have took a few shots whilst they practice. I normally shoot aperture priority and have tried different settings but not happy with the results. I'm ending up between 500 to 1000 iso (which isn't ideal on my 1dmk11N) as the light isn't good. I mostly use a 24-70L and would like to end up with more 'keepers'. Struggling with a shutter sped that works?
Thanks

Movement in the ball but not the spokes

Hi, you have movement in the rear wheel ;)

It's a hard game to shoot, light is always poor in basketball, push the iso and keep trying.

Shot my first game in a while tonight and the iso was upto 6400 in some shots.

Also try to get the players face/ball, adds interest to the image

Phil.

Thanks for the advice, I hadn't noticed the movement in the left wheel until you pointed it out  Never really gone above iso 1000 as noise gets quite bad, will give it a try though!

Do you have a link to some pics? What are you struggling with?

EDIT:
Before you give up or start swapping kit, make sure you are getting the best out of what you already have. Just had a quick look at the exif on a couple of your shots, shooting in manual is great, but you are using a 2.8 lens and shooting at F4-F5, open up more to get more light in, increase your shutter too.

I'm not a canon man so know nothing of these mysterious things ;) but you need a little more patience and experiment, your shots are not that bad and you may be judging yourself too harshly. Forget the noise issue, get the shots right first and work out a PP solution later.

i couldnt see the exif on these and I refuse to follow links

if you ahve an f2.8 lens and your shootring indoors then you should be using f2.8 otherwise whats the point of having a fast lens?

f2.8
iso to max
whatever shutter speed is left..thats it .

Thanks for the advice I will use f2.8 next time. I tried to keep away from there as I thought image quality wasn't as good at each end. I agree about judging myself to harshly though. Thanks for the suggestions it's much appreciated
