What is your favourite lens and why? may it be a prime or a zoom. I went from a kit lens 18-55is to 55-250 to tamron 17-55 f2.8 vc and now the canon 15-85 and that is the only lens I have although the flexibility of it it's unbeatable and it still is the best lens I own to date I still feel that's something missing, the creativeness of a prime maybe! I do use the 15mm end of the lens but more often than not I'm using from 24 and onwards so this got me thinking would a prime like the 50 1.4 be a better bet for me or a 24-70 2.8 like the Tamron's latest vc version as I have tried it and I was very impressed.
But I want to know what your favourite lens is and the most used one?

For me the 50-500 OS - very heavy but sharp though the range - and its a hell of a range :) Plus the OS is very good too.

for me; the Sigma 150-500mm I use it every day, despite having several other lenses- it does all I want it to do, from close up insects to long range bird shots and the OS is superb

Les

Surprised no one has mentioned the 35mm 1.8 yet! I agree about the 18-55, nice and light too, very flexible, really miss mine :o(

35mm 1.8 for me.

yeah, 18-55 is actually quite a good lens....

Oh, almost forgot to mention the MP-E65 - now that is a macro! Although if I can only choose one its still the 50-500 OS, but they are for such different subjects.

Canon 400mm f5.6, why, because it's so sharp

For me it's the 500 f4 IS, I love photographing birds and it's the best lens I've ever use for this. The AF is very fast and extremely acurate, IQ is stunning and it is very sharp even when shooting wide open with a 1.4x in the mix.

600mm f4 i.s. for all the same reasons. :-)

50mm 1.8D is a cracking lens.

For me it has a major flaw...I know i'm always banging on about this, but it's too soft until f2.8! Which kind of defeats the point of nw having this lens. If it want for video use I'd sell it without question.

Having said that, the G version is much better :)

Well I have two depending on what Im shooting
General walkabout lens Sigma 18-250
Wildlife and stuff Sigma 50-500.

I too have other lenses but hardly ever use them

It apears so far the zoom is a favourite for most aspecialy the sigma super zooms

I think my all time favourite has to be the Canon 50mm f/1.8 mkII aka nifty fifty for its bang per buck. Very sharp, very light, very compact, and acceptable bokeh all for under a ton.

My current favourite is the Panasonic 20mm f/1.7 since I am shooting m43rds now.

I can't really decide between two...

The EF70-300mm f/4-5.6 L IS USM is without doubt the sharpest and most versatile telephoto zoom I've owned (especially on full-frame) and the little EF50mm f/1.4 USM produces some of the nicest, dreamiest portraits I've ever shot. :)

when I can be bothered to manual focus my Ziess 50mm plannar is just awesome, I love the pop it gives photos

other than that my 50mm 1.4 afs nikon and my 70-200 sigma.

My Canon 300mm f4 - bitingly sharp, good IS and focuses to 1.5m which is great for butterflies and dragonflies.

For my Nikon d7000 i love the tamron 28-75 and samyang 85 1.4 (when i feel like a bit of manual focus) .

how do i delete ?

I have 3 lenses in my kit plus a kit lens that I never use (canon 18- 55).

All Canon.
17-55 2.8 is the most used(highly recommend) Perfect all around lens imo. 2.8 is very fast in low light. The wide range at 17 is great for landscapes and the long range is just enough for a walk around lens. Not to mention this lens is tack sharp. By far my most used lens.

Next is 70-200 2.8 mrk2
What can I say, sharp sharp sharp and fast. The range is good for certain situations but because of the size and weight I don't use it as much walking around.

50mm 1.8
I have this in my bag but really have not used it much. I think there will come a time when it fits the situation and I will be glad I have it. It's very sharp but the focus motor is much slower than the two lenses mentioned above. Over all a good lens.

I have a 500mm FD reflex lens that's my favourite. It seems to be regarded with a bit of suspicion by many photography fans but I love the reach it can manage, the portability and the images.

Both my work horse lenses are the Canon 24-70 and the 70-200IS MK2

Do not get to use it much but when I do it is pure magic, the Sony Zeiss 85 f1.4.

Right now is the first time in a long time (years) that I am happy wiht all my lens at the same time.. usualy problems here and there...I dont even have a wish list for lens anymore :)

I love my 135 f2L and that doesnt even get used anymore.. but too good to part with

Canon 400mm IS f2.8 L Just back from canon after two trips and its now running perfect.. even wiht 1.4 or x2 or both stacked... its just great

Canon 70-200 f2.8L mkII dispelling the myth that prime beats zoom IMHO

Canon 35mm f2 .. I wish I had a FF to use this on..

Don't really have a fav lens, just grab any lens I might want to take with me.

All the the lens I have got are very good :)
