OK so what's the little black "duberry" that clips on and runs freely up and down one of the legs of my Manfrotto 190Pro tripod, with an alan key hole in it?

It's a removeable key, used to tighten the clamps on the legs. I have removed mine and placed it safely in a cupboard to prevent losing it

Ah thanks. I will do the same then!! :D

Yup I did the same, on advice from the guy in Jessops when I bought it. He said "Take it off and hide it, or you'll lose it" hehe

It's now in my camera bag.

Run, Sawman, run!!!!!:D

Well you'll have to sit down and take the consequences then! ;)

Just out of curiosity....what happens when your out with your tripod and one of the screws comes a bit loose......would you then walk/drive all the way home.....to retrieve the allen key from the cupboard....?

Dave P.

PS have had my uni-lock 1700 for 10 years........and it still has the original allen key attached to it........(just in case...)

Well I, unlike these silly males here, wouldnt put it in a cupboard, it is safely stashed away at the bottom of one of my camera bag pocket lest just such an occasion arises! :D

I too wondered what that widget was. Overjoyed in finding out in this thread I rushed to check it out again and...it wasn't on the leg!!!

However a quick scramble round the boot of my car and there it was...phew!

Thanks Janice - good thread!!!

I'm the only one un-embarassed enough to ask, John!
All you men don't want anyone to know that you don't know!!! :D
