Yes
If Mandela is declared dead on the same day as the royal baby is born, which way do the tabloids run? Perhaps front page combining both events

I reckon Mandela would be lucky to get mentioned before about page ten......

Heather

....and in other news.....

Personally would rather read about the birth than Mandela...

Mother Theresa and Aldous Huxley both got their timing wrong ...

how could anyone not care about Mandela after what he did ?
but the way some of his family are behaving now is disgraceful
don't give a stuff about the Royal birth tho:D

The British press - broadsheets and tabloids - would lead with the birth of the royal baby. Why would the death of a former President, of a foreign country, take precedence?

I'd rather read about the birth of any child over the death of a terrorist.

Mandela was involved in terrorist acts in his fight against the apartheid regime cant argue with that

his past has been swept under the rug and nobody talks about that now, which is wrong.
he was in the end a force for change in south africa which is a good thing but certainly not a saint

Very few saints in this world. Most great leaders have skeletons in their cupboard: Churchill (war crimes - intentional bombing of civilians), Lincoln (slave owner), Caesar (mass murderer).

One man's freedom fighter is another man's terrorist.

But to answer the OP, I'm not terribly interested in reading either story.

Even in prison he sanctioned terrorist act that resulted in deaths of innocent people..

Most countries around the world think the british are mad anyway.. moreso when we build statues and sing songs about murdering terrorists..

and the poeple who died because of his acts... they are still dead while he basks in glory :(

Agree.

And me. All the above comments are well documented facts.

The royal baby I am not really interested but wish them well.

Mandela I really really don't care about him or his family.

Mandela was a terrorist jailed for blowing people up

yes I agree with you am just trying to say that the ending of apartied should be remembered
Im believe any killing of innocents is wrong and am just saying that the good and bad things he did should both be remembered and discussed, as I said the media are forgetting his involement with terrorism which is wrong

pete.. My post was meant to be agreeing with you to a certain extent:)

To be honest I beleive he should still be in prison...not that it was a prison..it was a house.

So many people are brainwashed into thinking he was wrongly imprisoned for 20 odd yrs..free nelson songs where made and he was out to save his country... thats what so many believe :(

yes I remember the concert and songs etc I even remember a film!
we were never told about the terrorism, that was brushed under the carpet
I felt that I had been misled when I found about that

A shop near me is running a competion with the royal baby (guess the weight, sex, No. of toes, etc.) and part of the poster states:

"Boy or Girl - You Decide"

I didn't realise we were voting on it!

Steve.

Steve.

Its good to now that we still live in a democracy

:D

Mandela sanctioned the blowing up of the infrastructure - power lines etc, not people.

Look up umkhonto we sizwe.
Mind you the SA police and BOSS were hadly whiter than white (pardon the pun)

Have you read cry freedom? Or closer to home (photographer) Joao silva's book.

Here's a quote I found, when asked if Mandela had ever killed.

"He was responsible for 100's of deaths although not directly but he did give the orders. That is why he was tried and found guilty."

It was a foul time in SA's history (still is to an extent), and there were vile acts carried out by all sides, but this man's life should not be celebrated imho.

.

So it was there fault for being in the way? He was only supposed to blow the.....

TBH I don't give a Toss either :D Just thought I would throw the question up for the usual friendly responses

On a friendlier note,

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MR MANDELA!

And CONGRATULATIONS to the royal couple!

Not to mention get well soon NM and Rich!
