What's the likeliness of getting orange to upgrade me early?

Yes
I'm 2 months away from upgrade in an 18 month contract, and it would be great to go away to uni with a decent smartphone rather than this cruddy tocco.

Has anyone else had any such success with any other network? or even orange?

And please, no shoe jokes :p

Orange upgraded me 12 months in on an 18 month contract (Dolphin 35). So it may be worth a go.

I hear they make special exceptions for already-been-played-with rent boys anyway ;)

Orange are changing their terms and conditions very soon and you can get out of your contract early.....

Mate at work managed to get out of a 24 month contract after 6 months and got to keep his HTC Touch HD for free...... Then sold that for £225 and got a new iphone and is happy as Larry....!!!

Phone them up and threaten to leave and they should bend over backwards and offer you a sweet deal if you are prepared to stay......

heck out moneysaving expert there is a MASSIVE thread on there...!!!

I have a 24month contract and have get outs at 6, 12, 18 and 24 months maybe you have one at 12?

kittykat to get a new contract is to call 150 and beg, I am on a £24 a month contract with 600mins unlimited texts 250mb of data and a free touch hd for 24 months oh and its insured aswell

I'll wait until dad is back as the account is in his name, and get him to ring up.
Looking to get a new HTC Hero and a 250mb data per month... you guessed it, for free.

What are the chances of that!

To be honest, we've been with Orange for years. Unfortunately they don't treat loyal customers as well as non-customers.

I upgraded my contract with Orange 2 months early yesterday. Reduced my plan from £35 month to £26, I have reduced my minutes and text but have got unlimited internet access and a new Nokia 5800 smartphone, kept my unlimited landline calls and magic numbers. New phone due to arrive today!

I did tell them I was thinking of moving to Vodafone first though.

I upgraded my 12 month contract with Virgin at only 6 month but had to take out a new 18 month contract but got a shiney new phone

Sounds good guys, looking hopeful!

The only thing is my Dad is a complete pushover - has absolutely no willpower against a decent salesman.

I, however, can't speak to them because it's my Dad's account!

I upgraded my phone 15 months into an 18 month contract, they will let you upgrade within the last 3 months of the contract but however many months you upgrade early will then be added to your new contract. E.g. I upgraded 3 months early, so my new contract was actually 21 months instead of 18 which suits me fine as I now have a phone that works and I am happy with it.

In my experience no amount of begging/threatening will persuade them to end a contract early, nor will they ever upgrade with more than 3 months left on a contract (I tried to upgrade countless times, including the day before 3 months and they still wouldn't let me ;) )

Well perhaps I'll offer them discount on my usual high street prices ;)

We've been with Orange since I've had a phone. Around 8 years.

That might not matter however!

Probably not, I was with Orange from about 6 months after they started in 1994 up until a couple of years ago. I had a billing dispute with them regarding an small overcharge and they suggested if I didn't want to pay I could sod off somewhere else. So I did

I, however, can't speak to them because it's my Dad's account!

as long as you've got your Dads permission to speak to them how would they know ??????

Hello Orange ,

Mr Foodpoison Senior Speaking...

UPGRADE MY ****ing PHONE NOW YOU ***** ****** ****

they'll never guess ;)

Given that you are entitled to cancel your contract completely, Orange will fall over themselves to keep you.

Phone the retentions department and tell them you are entitled to cancel your contract, but would reconsider if they allowed you to upgrade early.

I'd be amazed if they didn't let you.

I don't want to terminate my contract, but I'd be willing to, erhem, tell a porkie :naughty:

I just want a new phone!

The tocco is admittedly naff!

They don't need to know you don't want to cancel. All they need is the slightest thought that you might and they should fall over themselves to keep you.

This change in their T&C's is crippling their customer base so they are extremely eager to retain as many as will stay.

You'll need to do it soon though as the changes mean you can only cancel your contract within one month of them being announced. Leave it any longer and you don't have that right to cancel as a bargaining tool.

Dad gets home from down under in a week and a half, will get him right on it.

Thanks for the input guys.

Flash, I know you've been keeping your lips sealed so you can unleash your onslaught of shoe and jessops related jokes ;)
