EF isnt just for FF as above, as crop cameras can use both EF and EFS lenses.

Its only FF that cant use EFS lenses as they are specifically designed for crops only.

The key difference is the size of the image circle. EF-S projects and image circle which is just big enough to cover the smaller sensor of crop format cameras, which is 22.3 x 14.9mm on Canons, less than half the area of full frame's 36 x 24mm.

If you could fit an EF-S lens on to a full frame camera, the image would be a small circle in the middle, with black around the edges. In fact you can fit DX lenses (same as EF-S) on full frame Nikons, and that's exactly what you get.

It's a crop. The sensor is smaller than a full frame's 35mm. Full frame cameras at the moment are are only in the pro ranges. 5d mk 2, d700, d3 etc

No not necessarily. A bigger sensor provides better light gathering especially noticeable at high iso as well as other things which can include a bigger image. I suggest you google it and look at the wiki page that will explain it in much greater detail.
