I'm off work this week and the Mrs has stacked up the jobs but I'll be finished for tomorrow lunchtime and I was thinking of going to Oulton Park on Friday I've been to race days & trackdays but on Friday it's an exclusive bike testing day, can anybody tell me if I can go just like a trackday and access all the circuit for free or is it only for people using the track?

Thanks David,

I've just this minute given them a call and exactly as you say above plus you can just go on the grounds as if it was a track day
,
So it looks like I'll be heading off to Oulton Park tomorrow

Thanks,
Billy

There are several levels of testing.

- general testing - generally run in half hour to 45 minute sessions alternating between closed wheel and open wheel single seaters, usually the day before a race meeting, occasionally mid week too.

- semi-exclusive testing - run in an open pitlane format, with a morning session and an afternoon session. Generally only 12-15 cars at the circuit, whom are paying a premium for extra track time.

- exclusive testing - generally hired for one series only rather than the disparate mixture of cars you get in general / semi-exclusive testing.

- private testing - if you're wealthy you can hire the whole circuit. Whether you allow the public in or not is your call.

Generally testing is free to get in, although not always - Oulton Park were charging £ 5/head on Good Friday for British GT meeting testing.

Thanks for the info Andrew, I went to Oulton Park today it was free to enter sessions where running for 20 mins with less than a 5 min gap in between I had a great day out.

I started off on 1/250 second and ended up at 1/125 second and got some nice images even though i took over 300 and have about 40 at a guess that are worth keeping.
