Ok so as above....

I know what a blog is - I have one (part of my Photography website) and update it regularly. I shoot a lot of music photography, post the images and reviews on my blog - easy-peasy! Ive just been knocked back by a PR company as she said she only has pass's for Publications - I told her it was for my blog etc however as she has never heard of it she knocked us back - Thats fine - i get it and im totally cool with it..

So I'm thinking would it be better to run an online publication separately? The only difference I can see is that one sounds more professional?? - even though the content will be exactly the same... I totally get that its all abut followers these days which is cool.

I feel that I've probably almost answered my question but I'm probably missing something... as usual - Out of all the things I've lost the only thing i miss is my mind!

Thanks!!

Well, if you publish your blog it will be a publication, won't it? Did the woman perhaps mean a paper publication, aka a magazine?

That is my initial reaction as well, is she referring to print?

Also what is the url of your blog? Is it your own proper domain, how many unique impressions do new posts get etc

Thanks

A quick look at that link. Ignoring that the security certificate doesn't belong that domain and therefore I have to manually change the url as song trust that. Whilst there is a blog, it is a secondary function of that website. Primary navigation suggests it's to sell you, not to be a publication about bands.

If that is what you intended I would suggest to choose to do either or. So move one of the functions to another domain.

In that context I can understand what they mean by it not being a publication.

technically your blog is a publication, but in this case what she means is she only has passes for photographers working for established magazines (or web magazines) , the fact that she's never heard of yours suggests it doesnt qualify

running seperately still won't help if no one has heard of it
