Hi,
Been looking for some mounts for my City & Guilds portfolio work. What a mare!!!!!!...
Standard print sizes and mounts don't seem to match up. I got some 12 x 8 prints done but these are too large for display. So I thought i'll come down to 10 x 8 to give around a A4 overall mount, or thereabouts.
Bought some mounts, then cropped and resized my photos and lost all the composition and aspect ratio :bang:
So can't go there I thought wasted £25 on them, shame cos they are pukker mounts.
NEXT... O.K I'll come down to 9 x 6.. should maintain aspect ratio & compostion won't lose anything... Can I find a mount - NO well not A4 overall.
After a loooong search found these:-
12x9 with Aperture 8 3/4 x 5 3/4...
but
11 11/16 x 8 1/4 true (A4) gives an aperture of 9 3/16 x 5 3/4...
Whats that all about? the smaller mount is giving a larger aperture...
Soooo for an A4 mount you would need around a 10 x 6 print, that isn't standard.
Can someone help me out here, wish i'd known this BEFORE I took the photos then I would have framed accordingly so I could have cropped to suit. I haven't got anywhere to go now.
