My current printer, an epson r240 is starting to get problematic and will look at upgrading it soon.

Are there any that steel the show? Probably looking up to £100. I used to follow them all the time, but not done that for a long while.

I print a lot and go through a lot of printers. I think budget printers under £100 canon are hard to beat. They are faster and use less ink (although ink consumption is getting worse with every new model) I use the ip4950 however you might be interested to know they have an a3 printer using the same printhead as my ip4900 for £150! This is a cracking price for an a3 printer.

i've never trusted epson printers on the basis of many different experiences over the last 10-12 years
canon always gets my vote

Thanks. An A3 printer would be nice, but I just don't have the room for it. Looks like I will be looking in the canon range then. I suppose there are the kodak range, but would they be any better than the canon?

Its really compact nothing like the size of the big epsons. They sell them in the big currys/pcworld stores take a look you will be very surprised.

The Kodak printers are rubbish and the whole ink cost thing is rubbish too. They are cheaper to buy but last 5 mins.

I've had a canon printer for a few years now and am very pleased with it. Used to have an Epsom printer and wasn't happy with the prints I got, tried various things and eventually decided to get a new one. The canon one, straight out the box gave much better results, got my FIL one aswell. They do an iP range - printer only and mP which is the multi purpose (scanner etc) printer.

i have just bought the canon ix 6550 a3 printer and for the price ,approx £150 quid,i dont think you can go wrong, and it is not that big, 549x299x159.

Yeah canon should stick to what there good at making printers!;)

I have both Pixma iP4500 and 4850 models currently on my desk and have been really pleased with both. Might consider the 9000 as I am increasingly wanting to make larger prints although the service and quality from DSCL makes me think twice about the spend.

By the sound of his input Robert has obviously never used a proper DSLR :)

I bought an HP Officejet 6500 e710-n 3 in 1 a few months ago for straightforward office printing [I dont print my own pictures, I prefer to leave that to the experts with the proper equipment] and have to say, VERY impressed, having had a rubbish canon previously and several god-awful epsons. Its very light in on ink use, prints beautifully and when you do need to replace the inks, they are cheaper then most. This version is wi-fi, but they do a standard USB one too afaik. This exact model has, I think, been superceded but cannot praise HP enough for this one. We also have an HP laserjet at the office, over a year old now and has worked tirelessly and perfectly for that entire time... so... I would recommend an HP. ;)
