My client has asked for the pictures to look 'a bit different, a bit funky, not necessarily real...' - I'm looking for your ideas of where to go from here! They are corporate business shots, and not all of the subjects are as pretty as this particular subject, there's a spread of age, gender, weight etc so whatever I do has to look acceptable on all shapes etc

Also, I'd like to be able to do it in about 10 minutes per image, as there will be quite a few images to do. Here's a starting point if you fancy having a play:

They have put forward an example of a very odd shot (Lily Allen, with a criss cross grid on top of the image, looks strange...) and they have asked me if I can do the same effect. The instructions for this are:

clients friend said:
I just selected every second line of pixels and the copy and pasted them onto a new layer. Then I increased the brightness and contrast of the new layer. (effect1). For effect 3 I just did the selected every second line of pixels vertically of the orignal image and pasted them on top of this new layer and applied no effects (to give a grid look).

Can someone be kind enough to translate that into simpletons language please? I doubt they'll go with this anyway, once I offer a few alternatives...but I'd like to show them the sample image with their chosen effect anyway.

Many thanks in advance! :)

Duplicate the layer, Filter, stylize, find edges, adjust opacity and fill then adjust levels for a cartoon/drawing effect ?

How do you select every second pixel line?

Open a new document that is 1px wide and 2px high.

Make the top pixel black and the bottom pixel white.

"Select All"

Now (and from memory I don't remember where this is but I think it's under the "select" menu, you "Define pattern" and give it a name.

Now go to your image, hit Q to enable Quickmask, then use the fill tool to "pattern fill" with your new pattern.

Hit Q to go back to normal mode, et voila, alternate pixel rows selected.
