Yes
I know there are certain types of torches to use for painting with light. i.e when you are drawing things...stick people for example. I can't for the life of me recall what type of torches these are.

I did do a search, but I couldn't find what I was looking for. Did come across some great threads with cool links in mind:)

Also, would glowsticks work...I think I have some lying about somewhere.

Thanks

Glow sticks work really well.
As for the torch I've got a couple I use. It does depend on what sort of painting your doing. I also use off camera flash as well.

If your doing light drawing you don't want the torch to powerful, multi LED jobbies are good for that or a laser pointer.
If your light painting I find the Tesco 3W LED torches are great.

glow sticks - mmmm - depends what you have in mind

the amount of light emitted and the size of the light path

i used small torches for some i did with coloured plastic over the top

worked very well

also keyring led's come in different colours and are easy to control too

is the link to the ones i tried with torches

I'll have a nosey in Tesco's tomorrow. If not I'll get one of those little keychain laser torches. That would be a handy thing to keep in the camera bag. And I'll dig out my glowsticks.

Great images Joe :)

Thanks everyone!

mini maglights work well

:agree: Also, not a torch but a small mains bulb, 15w or so, inside a plastic coffee cup (to shield the light), works very well.
But drink the coffee first...

LED torches are best bet, failing that your mobile phone may have a pretty powerful camera light
