Hi all, I've been on the look out for an enlarger that'll print from 35mm up to 6x7, I think I've found something that fits the bill: the Meopta Multifax 6x9. I was wondering if anyone has any experience using one or could advise what I should be looking for when I check it over, there's very little to be found online about them. Specifically, should it have a certain lens or diffuser? (I'm not even sure if it is a diffuser enlarger.) Also, 30€, good price?

Thanks!

Can't really comment on the Meopta, like you say there doesn't appear to be much information on it, which tbh, indicates it might not be the best choice with regards to availability of parts and accessories.
There are too many cheap, decent quality, easily obtained and serviced enlargers around, to faff about with that Meopta.
I mean, you need to make sure you get everything you need with it, like film carriers and wot not, it may require different diffuser boxes for different formats, if its a condenser enlarger, there may be separate condensers and boxes, just finding out what you need might be a task in its self.
I would stick to a popular brand that has a plentiful supply of parts and accessories.:)

The Magnifax is built to last like all Meopta enlargers, and 30 euros is the biggest bargain I've seen this year, depending on which head is fitted. Secondhand Darkroom has a couple of these fitted with the rare Meograde head at £375 and £420 if you scroll down http://www.secondhanddarkroom.co.uk/index.php/s-h_enlargers/meopta/?k=:3:63261::0 but the Color 3 head can be used for dialling in multigrade filter numbers and this head can be used on many Meopta enlargers, including the Magnifax. As for how good they are, Barry Thornton used them for his work as he said they were better built than many better known names.
