We would like some advice on what to charge clients please. We have just started in commercial photography but trying to come up with a price structure is somwhat a challenge. For example if we were to shoot for a hotel we would price for many rooms but if we were to shoot for a small restaurant with only one small room that may only take 2 or 3 shots what would you charge . I have no idea what the charges are in this area. We have also approached letting/estate agents and they are interested in our services but again what would be a sensible charge for this sort of work.
We are fine with the photography side but when it comes to the business side of things its a hole different ball game but one we want to learn.

i just clicked on your web link to have a look clicked on NEWS...read two lines and shut your web down....Why if i was searching for a photographer would i want to read that on your news page.i dont think that would engage clients personaly.

i then went onto your other site.... eborimages.co.uk.......
..YOU have STOLEN images from SERGE Remeli i gues you have signed up to his site downloaded the free images and edited them as he does in his video,i have screen dumped the images and will forward them to him

absolutly staggering that you would attempt to pass someone ekses work off as your own

i just read "part 3" of your news. So sad man. I really feel for you, though putting it up onto your website, won't encourage customers, will most likely do the opposite. Take it down, fella. If I were there with you, I'd give you a manly hug.

I agree, I'm sure you're going through a tough time, but you really don't want to be doing this stuff in public, and it certainly won't help with your business at all.

To be fair, that is probably his personal site and nothing to do with the photography business and so the news page reads like a blog post. So, perhaps he should have put the correct link up, but then he was not asking for a critique of the website.

To the OP, I doubt anybody is going to gve you actual prices to charge, you need to work out what rate you need for yourselves as a day rate or half day for example. Factor in your costs and overheads and base a price on that. But you might be better posting on the business section of the forum

Ah i see your referring to my other site that i don't use for selling images, It was intended to show my kids that i have not seen for over 3 years now the truth about what she did to me. I know she knows about the site so that why i put it up. Every day i have to struggle with what i have had to go through. I put it on there in desperation and I had not realised i had a link to my other site.

Yes i guess your right Steve about working it out for our selves and we will have to do more research. I just thought i would ask, I guess the question has been asked a thousand times.

I cant tell from the above but presume your starting a busisness... If you do a business plan which I would strongly suggest you do..then most of your questions will be answered.. you will look into your competition and see what prices they charge.. you will know how much you need to make per hr/week/month to make a living... Its obvious you havent done one.. a business plan will give you a better insight and a clear indication of wether your business will even work... A business plan isnt your idea written on paper.. its so much more :)

You already started a business and have no idea what to charge.. thats just not good at all..

There are two issues here
One copy right theft,
Two if i booked a photographer on those images i would expect that type of image to be delivered

There is absolutely NO excuse for image theft under any circumstance...iam prepared to be slagged off because of the OPs private situation, thats irrelevant

This forum is populated by professional photographer who would be up in rage if it were their images been used like this

^^ If Mark is correct then I toally agree with Mark, if you are ripping off others images and claiming them as yours then this is out of order, if you do not have any images of your own of a suitable standard then you need to take these down and start working on your own stuff before you start advertising any sevices.
If you were using my images I would be straight into legal procedings quite frankly

Tree, Rope, Pitchforks, ... no attampt to answer the mans question.. just attack him on the basis that he might have done soemhting wrong ?

Oh my god.. how on earth did you get to that? sorry but thats utterly pathetric..I cant for the life of me see how you could twist or turn or even re juggle what i have written to come up with that... just a really pathetic thing to say :(

Your rates will be defined by the money that you require to live your life to the standard that you wish to live it after you have considered your incomings and outgoings.

As for the thieving thing, well, think you've got the idea.

To be clear..

At this point nobody knows if the OP has done anything wrong.. You have no idea if he has asked to use the pictures.. got permission or maybe even paid to use them... you dont know? so I think its a bit rich to start attacking him without knowing.. attacking him just in case he did soemhtign wrong.. he may have? at the very least its poor business practice.. but good grief...

And on that basis I get "you would be fine with someone farming your images then Kipax"

I mean really?

direct quote Kipax unless i have taken it out of context ?

Show me a direct quote where i condone tkaing other peoples pictures... i didnt even post anything that rhymes with it... All I said was its wrong to attack someone when you dont know the facts... and you turn that into I am ok wiht taking pics? I mean whats the point of having an opinion if people liek you twist it all the way around to soemthign sinister :(

So now hes a thief ...

Well yes... taking someones stuff and using it like it's your own... Just because something is pixels doesn't mean it shouldn't be treated the same way as a physical object.

But you know, just totally ignore the advice I gave in the same post. That's fine too after you said that people weren't giving him advice on what to charge.

sign up here, you can download ALL of the files that relate to his tutorial videos.....READ the T & Cs on the download links The OP can post his agreement with Ramelli if he wishs to

Thread closed - the use of the images has been reported, only time will tell if they were used with or without permission and it is now between the those two parties concerned. NO ONE on this thread has said they condone theft of images, so that's a moot point too. Thread now closing as I doubt it will get back on track from here.
