What time of day is best for rutting?

Quick question........ is there a best time of day with more chance of seeing deers rut, or are they at it any time of day like us chaps?

anytime really, although best light is early morning or late afternoon

First light is best IMO its also when they seam to be most vocal

In Cardiff, I have found that the stags start to rut about 10:30pm especially in Chippy Alley.

I would say pub chucking out time would be the best time to see the deers rutting.

I've just come home from a few hours in Bushy Park. There was a lot of bellowing and posturing all morning and a clash between 2 stags at about 9.30.
After that it went quiet as far as activity went, most stags content with lying down and bellowing.
The worst problem was the light, simply too dull and flat which contrasted with yesterday that had some good early light.
