I have a couple of pictures of my kids that would absolutely suit this style of processing. The trouble is, I don't even know what to call it so I can search for tutorials! I asked the photographer, but he's loathe to tell me his processing style (fair enough) All he say's is he used Photoshop.

So I thought I'd ask here instead. Any ideas? I've tried fine art, but that doesn't really cover it. any pointers would be gratefully received

Image removed whilst I find the link!

Looks like smudge painting to me.

Never tried it but noted a good exponent of the technique over at DP Review called Ray Guselli.

PS though the one you show above is more subtle than Ray's work.

PPS .........as not your work should you not post as a link not an embed???

Looks like it's trying to replicate a vintage style or a hand retouched mono image. I'd google names of some of the old colour processes (can't remember right now) or colour retouching. I'd also guess he's using a preset - who in their right mind would want to leave that blurring effect at the bottom when it doesn't suit the image.

Never thought of that actually. I'll link it and remove the image
