Hey all,

At the moment I have a Canon 5D Mark II and I shoot with a tamron 28-75mm f2.8.
I have thought recently that I would be able to sell both and buy a new Canon 77D and a 50mm f1.8 I know I’ll be moving to a Crop sensor camera but is it all that important to have a full frame camera. I do a bit of event photography and the 5D Mark II is alright at higher ISO but I’m presuming a new camera would be too at 3200 ect... any thoughts??

Thank you in advance.

What are you hoping to achieve by swapping, what is the 5D II not giving you?

As above, why?

What advantage would you gain?

And what other lenses do you have? The 50mm on crop is far from ideal for events, too long for groups, too short for portraits.

I would stick with the full frame, there is nothing wrong with the 5d2. If you go crop you will regret it and want to go back to full frame.

one simple answer NOISE crop sensors are fine if your close .bad in poor light dont do it simples

Crop sensors aren't "bad" in low light, they're just not quite as good. But the 77D is much newer and so the difference between that and the ageing 5D II might not be as much as you'd think.

I have a 5D Mk2 with a sigma 50mm f1.4 EX DG and there is no way would I swap that for a crop camera with the same lens.
If you want the extra stop you should be able to get a sigma or canon f1.4 for £200-250 used, unless of course you want to be silly and buy the canon f1.2L!
