I'm about to purchase a yongnuo 565ex and I want to use off camera flash but don't want to use the pop up flash to set it off, what reciever or relevant pice of kit would I need? Thanks

yongnuo YN622c triggers.
 
it says the yongnuo 622n will work with the 565ex flash but i dont know if it will trigger the flash or you would need a yongnuo YN-622N as a recever on the flash maybe one of the guys or girls could confim this for you

You'll need a 622n as a receiver on each flash you want to control. For ease of use get a 622n-TX for on the camera.
 
Great suggestions from rab and Phil. The 622's are all singing and dancing units though, if you want to just simply set the flash off without controlling it i.e in manual mode, there are way cheaper transmitters and receivers out there.

For info guys

The YN-622N-TX transmitter also works with a Nikon D4, not listed.
