What paint should I use?

Hi All,
I'm looking to paint a wood skirting board, but don't know whether gloss or matt paint would be best.
Just thinking gloss may bounce of the flash light a little too much.

Any ideas?

We have done all of ours in eggshell, much nicer than gloss.

If you're painting directly onto raw wood (pine) i would strongly suggest buying a knot sealer or an proper knot-sealing primer as the knots will seep resin through within a few weeks and it looks awful.

Yes - we made that mistake!

I decided to use white emulsion, it gave the wood a lovely washed effect.
