Yes
Hi guys, my Nikon d750 died nearly a month ago. Since then I've been looking to upgrade my 10yo camera. I shoot mainly sports and corporate events but I nearly have 0 knowledge on new cameras. I have f mount lenses, a 70-200 and 24-70 both 2.8 g2 from Tamron so i will need the adapter but what do i lose with that?
Thanks.

The downsides of the adapter are purely physical. There’s the obvious extended length, and the small weight penalty. Optically there is no image degradation, nor any effect on VR.
Others will have a better idea of which specific model is suited to your shooting requirements.

I use a z6ii with the Nikon 24-70 and 70-200 and that work well with the z6ii and FTZ.

Do you have a budget in mind for the camera and FTZ?

I would say Z6iii if budget allows. The latest autofocus will be useful for your sport events.

If you are doing action/fast moving sports then probably Z8 or Z9 might be needed. I haven't tried the Z6III, but the Z7II I had struggled to keep up with fast moving subjects and the blackout at the higher frame rates was a pain. I've read the Z6III still has some blackout. I used a variety of nikon AF-S lenses on both a Z7II and a Z8 with the adapter and never had issues. Although I wasn't able to try 3rd party lenses, I'm sure they will be fine otherwise someone would have posted something by now.

I'd say the Z6ii would be a monumental upgrade on the D750 which wasn't much of an upgrade on the D600/D610; D750 was only D7** because it was Nikon's way we've fixed the D600 issues by introducing D620 as a new series, the D750 (which was no relation to D700).

If you were happy with D750 and Z6ii is at the limit of our budget. Z6iii at launch is nearly Z8 price on last month's promotions...I see Z8s in the UK at around £3.5k, and FTZ for £170 (Wex I think); Z6ii may be £1k less but if I had the budget I'd go Z8 for sure.

There's always the D780 if you don't want to splurge out too much cash.

Whatever you buy you need to handle it first.
The Z8 is bigger and heavier than your D750.
Definitely. I hated the handling of the Z8. Couldn’t get past it even though it’s a fabulous performer.

How about a used D850? it's nearly the same price as the Z6II but better tracking for sports and resolution.
I wanted to go towards mirrorless cause of technology i guess.
I'm from italy btw.
(Thanks everybody for replying)

mmmm makes sense. i wish i could go for a z8. I'm also looking to get fixed my D750 as a spare (depends on the cost) but everythings closed in august so i'll see.
There are certified 2hand shops here in italy so i'm also keeping an eye on it to catch a deal but this kind of helps is really appreciated!!
If you have some more suggestions feel free to share!

The D850 is the best all round DSLR and what I'd be looking at if the Z8/Z9 is currently too expensive.
